Located in the Chengdu Plain in the western part of the Sichuan Basin,“Sanxingdui and Jinsha Sites”(1600~800BCE)comprises two component parts-the Ruins of Sanxingdui City and the Core Area of Jinsha Site, together they formed an archaeological complex that was built by the ancient Shu people, featured by their distinct social stratification and unique belief system.The area has a dense network of waterways and vast expanses of farmland, and connects to the spectacular Longmen Mountain Range on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,offering a striking example of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
Sanxingdui City and Jinsha Site are two successive regional centers of the Ancient Shu State. Sanxingdui City lasted from 1600 to 1100 BCE, while Jinsha from 1100 to 800 BCE.
City walls, palaces, residential buildings, ritual and workshop remains have been discovered in Sanxingdui, while palaces, residential buildings, burials, ritual and workshop remains have been found at Jinsha. Together, they represent the advanced achievements within the upper Yangtze River region during the climax stage ofthe Bronze Age,and stand as authentic testimonies of the Ancient Shu State in historic literature. The nominated property has an area of 449.78ha and buffer zones totaling 1584.54ha. The total area is 2034.32ha.
